Create Joints
You can access this dialog from the following:
- Ribbon: OpenRail Modeling > Rails > Joints
The Create Joints tool allows you to create joints using a fixed length or a maximum length table. Joints can be displayed as a list for manipulation or interactively in the plan view. Joints can be annotated and reported.
| Setting | Description |
| Apply to Rail | Specifies which rail line the joints will be placed on. |
| Min Joint Spacing | The minimum spacing between rail joints. |
| Max Joint Spacing | The maximum spacing between rail joints. |
| Joint Thickness | The length of the joint. |
| Remainder Placing | How the remainder of the joints should be placed if the previous parameters specified cannot be met. |
| Controlling Rail | Specifies which rail line is
used when determining the length of the rail.

Note: Moving a joint may
recreate and recompute the joint based on specified parameters.
