Regression Drawing Production
The Regression points Slew and Lift/Lower can be annotated on plan by using Element Annotation.
Annotate Plan Regression Points Slew and Lift/Lower
Workflow
- Select the Regression Points using the Element Selection tool.
- On the OpenRail Modelling Workflow select the Drawing Production tab
- Select Annotations > Element Annotation.
- Toggle ON Override Annotation Group
- Data the
and select Plan > Point >
Rail > Rail Survey Point Annotation Slew Lift Lower.
- Data Point (Left Mouse Click) to annotate the points.
to Show Aliases, user defined
aliases can be added to suit project naming conventions.

The Regression points Slew and Lift/Lower can be annotated on profile by using Drawing Model Annotation.
Annotate Profile Regression Points Slew and Lift/Lower Workflow
- Create the Named Boundary for the Profile.
- Make sure the newly created Profile Model is open and active.
- On the OpenRail Modelling Workflow select the Drawing Production tab.
- Select Annotations > Drawing Model Annotation.
- Data the
and select Profile > Drawing
> Rail > Rail Renewal Slew Lift Lower Profile.
- Select Annotate All Drawing Models (Yes) or (No) Single (Active) Model
- Left Mouse Click to Accept Annotation Group or Browse to Select alternative Annotation Group.
- The Resolve Aliases for
Definition dialog box will appear, (the Aliases are used to select user defined
targets), click in the Target field and select the required geometry from the
pull-down list. Click the OK button and the Profile will be annotated.
Note: The targets e.g. Existing Low Rail must be displayed in the design profile to annotate the object.
Overview of Manage Annotations - Rail Renewal Slew Lift Lower Profile
- Annotation Definitions are made up of Annotation Groups.
- Annotation Groups are displayed in Rows, these are in the order of display and can be in any user defined order.
- Each Row has its own properties.
- The Manage Annotations Dialog box is split into Rows and Display Properties Tabs.
Display Properties -
Properties
- Settings for the Profile Frame Box, Element Template used, Title Box Width, Frame Margins, and Position of Title Box Text, Left, Right or Left and Right.

- Add Row - Use this to Add/Insert User Defined Labels and Preconfigured Labels e.g. Alignment, Profile, Cant, Curvature

- Show - Turns On/Off Row Display.
- Type - Type of Label.
- Title - Title Text.
- Definition - What is Annotated e.g. Elevation, Slews, Existing Cant.
- In the Definition field
the user sets the parameters of what to annotate, in the example below for
Slew.
- Select the Definition Pulldown (The arrow on the right hand side)
- Select the Starting
Parameter (in this case Alignment to Alignment).
Note: The starting parameter determines what is available in the next parameter field.
- Select Horizontal Slew (Uses Regression Data).
- Select Horizontal Alignment (Uses Active Geometry)
- Select Horizontal Regression Line (Previously Created Alias, this will be displayed in the alias list when the user annotates the profile).
When the Slew Row List is highlighted the Row Properties for Slew
will be shown, in this part of the dialog box we can set -
- Location - Where the
Annotation occurs e.g. at a set Interval, at regression points, at cardinal
points etc.
- Select the Location
Pulldown (the arrow on the right hand side)
- Select the Starting
Parameter (in this case Horizontal Alignment).
Note: The starting parameter determines what is available in the next parameter field.
- Select Horizontal Stations.
- Type in the Interval Value to Annotate Slews at a user defined interval.
To Annotate Slews at the Survey Points
- Select Starting Parameter (in this case Horizontal Alignment)
- Select Horizontal Stations.
- Select Horizontal Points.
- Toggle ON Regression
Points.
- Title - Title Text, Element Template used and optional Text Styles, Position of text.
- Text - Text Type, Element Template used, Text Favorite used, Position of text.
- Collision - Text Collision Settings.
- Frame - Size of Profile Frame, Element Template used, Display Lines, Tick Marks.
Notes on Aliases
- For Best Practice the Aliases would be set up in the Annotation Groups and would be created in the workspace dgnlib file (Rail Settings Features Annotations Levels Elem Temp Metric.dgnlib) to enable access for all project users.
- The Aliases are Stored and Used in the Annotation Groups and are set in the Manage Annotations dialog box.
- In the Row List tab Click

To Create An Alias
- Click on Add Alias button.
- An Alias named Unnamed is created. This can be renamed as desired.
- Select the Type Pulldown
(the arrow on the right hand side)
- Select the Type to be used for the Alias e.g. Plan or Profile Alignment, Plan or Profile Regression Line, Surface, Cant.
To Delete an Alias
- Highlight an Alias.
- Select Delete Alias.
- Click the Top Right x on the dialog box to Close the dialog box.
