Regression Line from Rails

You can access this dialog from the following:

Ribbon: OpenRail Modeling > Regression > Create Regression Line split-button.

Creates horizontal centerline geometry from selected left and right rail alignments. Rail alignments should contain only line strings without curves.

This tool also calculates existing cant and writes this to the regression points.

Direction of the newly created regression line is determined by the selection of left and right rails, regardless of the direction of the rail linestrings.

If you have rail point readings (not linestrings), you should first use Rail Line from Points command to create rail linestrings.

Elevation Method: Used for calculating the elevation of new regression points. Defines where the elevations will be read from.

Points Feature Definition: Used for creating regression points.

Complex Feature Definition: Used for created related Regression Complex Geometry.

Feature: Used for creating Regression line.

Note: As the regression points are newly created with this tool, rail information can be in a reference file and does not have to be in the active dgn (model).
