Assign Cant to Corridor

You can access this dialog from the following:

  • Ribbon: OpenRail Modeling > Rail > Cant.

Provides an automated mechanism to assign Vertical (Cant) point controls to a rail design corridor. This is an automation to save time for creating point controls, you can also create point controls by editing the corridor manually (See Create Point Control)

Workflow
  1. Verify that the template being used in the corridor has the Superelevation Flag set for all rail points used as candidate superelevation points. This flag is used for automatically setting the point controls.
  2. From within the DGN containing the corridor model, select the Assign Cant to Corridor tool.
  3. Follow the heads-up prompts.
    Prompt User Action
Locate Corridor Select the corridor wherein the cant will be applied.
Select All Cants to Assign to Corridor. Reset when complete. Select the cant objects you want to assign corridor. You can select more than one cant object if cant is created in multiple parts, that is there is no single cant covering the whole alignment. You can select the cant objects using their manipulators in the plan view. Reset to finish selection.
  4. Assign cant to corridor dialog is displayed. This dialog assigns points in a template to the cant vertical control. This is done by creating vertical point controls for the selected points, with cant as control type.
  5. Check if the default point assignments are correct. If not, you can change using the drop down menu. Listed points here will only be the ones that are assigned Superelevation Flag in the template editor. If the information is correct, click OK. If not, click Cancel and review the template.
  6. Cant has been incorporated into the corridor model. Generate a dynamic cross section view to see the cant application. You can see the created point control in the Corridor Objects > Point Control menu.
