Create Virtual Node
Ribbon: Track > Rail Topology > Create Virtual Node
A virtual Node will divide an existing Topology Edge.
A Topology model is, for example, made up of:
- Node A < Edge > Node B
Adding a Virtual Node to the Topology Edge in the example above will update the Topology by inserting the Virtual Node and divide the Edge:
- Node A < Edge 1 > Virtual Node < Edge 2 > Node B
The purpose of the Virtual Nodes is to make the Topology Routes shorter and therefore less overlapping Routes.
User Interface: Create Virtual Node
| Setting | Description |
| Feature Definition | The Virtual Node's Feature Definition. |
| Name Prefix | The Virtual Node's name prefix which will be pre-pended with an incremented integer number. |
| Station | The Virtual Node's station |
Note: The Parameters section in the dialog box will be visible after
selecting an Edge.
Workflow
- Open the Dgn model
containing the Topology model.
Note: Virtual Nodes should be created in the same model as the Topology.
- Run the Create Virtual Node command
- Select a Feature Definition for the Virtual Node
- (Optional) Key-in a name prefix.
- Select and Edge (geometry between two nodes)
- Position the Virtual Node
by:
- Data point in the view
window
or
- Key-in a station value
