Speed Table Integration
Cant Editor displays information about both Cant Table and Speed table. This enables managing speed and cant using a single interface. Speed table can also be edited using regular speed table tool.
Using Speed Table tab, speed table can directly be reached inside the Cant Editor. You can use the same functionality as in the stand alone speed table, using this view.
Speed values can also be directly changed from the cant points. This can be done inside the Cant Editor, or using cant point properties. When speed of a point is changed in the Cant Range table, a new speed table entry is created following the following logic;
- When the change is in a curve location; Scan back and forward for gaps and tangents
- If a speed entry found before finding a gap or tangent, update that entry and do not search further.
- If a gap or tangent found, check if there is already a speed entry defined for the location, if yes update that entry
- If no entry is defined, create new one;
- With the new speed for the back station
- With the existing speed for the forward station
- When the change is in a tangent location; Change the speed for the whole tangent element
In the calculations Virtual Transition points are treated similar to Spiral Transition points.
This logic keeps the speed change confined to local curve location.
