Cant Point Types
Cant points can be one of the 3 different types, which can
be seen in the Status property of the Point. The type of the point determines
how the point will react to the changes in the underlying geometry.
-
Calculated
: These are the cardinal points
and virtual transition points. When geometry is changed they are calculated
(recreated) automatically. When the station of a calculated point is changed,
this will create a new Fixed Cant and Location cant point.
Calculated cant points cannot be deleted. To stop involving the point into cant calculations use Disable Cant Point option.
-
Fixed
: Fixed points are user defined
points and can be two different types.
Fixed cant points can be both disabled and deleted.- Fixed Cant: When the applied cant on a calculate point is manually changed, this point becomes a fixed cant point. Changes in the geometry will still move the point to its correct cardinal point location, but the cant value will not be updated according to curvature, and user input will be preserved.
- Fixed Cant and Location: This is a user created new point. The X,Y location of the point will be kept with geometry changes and station will be updated accordingly. Cant value is also preserved.
- Fixed Rotation About: Rotate About (pivot point) of the cant is changed by user for the point. Behaves similar to calculated point.
-
Projected
: Projected points can be can be
two different types.
Projected points can not be deleted but can be Disabled. To remove a projected point, use the Cant Projection Regions table and change projection range to exclude the point location.
- Projected Point: Cant point is created with projection from another cant object. That is when there is no point on that location on the active geometry, but a new point is added as a result of projection from another geometry.
- Projected Value: Cant value is projected from another geometry. That is when there is a cant point on the active geometry, but cant value is coming from another geometry.
