Item Type Definitions and Instances Export and Import

Used to export and import item type definitions and instances to and from Excel files respectively.

You can access this tool from the following:
  • Ribbon: Drawing > Content > Item Types > Import/Export
  • Ribbon: Modeling > Content > Item Types > Import Export


Setting Description
Instances


Displays the settings for item types instances' import and export.
Definitions


Displays the settings for item type definitions' import and export.
Import Displays settings for importing item type definitions or instances.
Export Displays settings for exporting item type definitions or instances. Displays two new settings if you select Items to be exported.
  • Active Model/All Models - Allows you to select between Active Model/All Models.
  • Sort Properties - Allows you to sort properties based on three option: Match Item Type/Ascending/Descending
Selection Type (Available only when Instances > Export is selected) Allows you to select from the following options:
  • All - exports all item type instances found in the model to export.
  • Current Selection - exports item type instances attached to the selected element.
  • By fence - exports item type instances attached to elements inside a fence selection.
Import/Export from Allows you to choose the location to which or from where to export or import the definitions/instances respectively.
Import/Export Imports or Exports item type definitions and instances.
Cancel Cancels the task of import or export and exits the dialog.
