Component Manager
The Component Manager tool shown below allows administrators to create/edit P&ID components and component classes.
Accessed from the following methods:
- The Managers tool group from the PID Tools Ribbon:
- Part of the Component Builder Wizard which is launched by selecting either the Create components from elements, or Create new component from cell option.
Setting | Description |
---|---|
New Class | This option allows you to create a new component class using the New Class dialog. |
Create Components from elements | Select this option to create a new component from graphical elements that you place in the drawing. To enable this button, you must first select the graphics in the drawing that you want to use to create the component. The Component Builder Wizard is launched to walk you through the process. |
Create New Component from Cell | This option allows you to create a new component using the properties of an existing base component class. The Component Builder Wizard is launched to walk you through the process. |
Create Tool and Icon | This option launches the Microstation Customize dialog which allows you to create or edit tools and icons. |
Create or Edit Icon | Opens the Create Icon dialog which allows you to specify an icon from a component cell directory or enter a path to a custom icon. |
Define or Edit Annotations | Displays the Define or Edit Annotations dialog which lists the current annotations defined for the component and provides the option to either define new annotations for the component or edit existing ones. |
Define or Edit Connect Points | This options allows you to define valid connect to points for the component. For example, if you were trying to connect a line to a pump in a drawing, a pump should only have two connect points, such as Suction and Discharge. |
Define or Edit Actuator | Displays the Define or Editor Actuator dialog allowing you to define the default origin and rotation for the actuator on a control valve. |
