Explorer Dialog
Used to manage and control project content within OpenPlant Modeler .
You can access this dialog from the following:
The Explorer dialog consists of OpenPlant Modeler, File, Items, Resources, Sheet Index, and Links tabs. The function of each tab is mentioned below.
Setting | Description |
---|---|
OpenPlant Modeler | This tab lists all of the components placed in the active model. The components are categorized by project associations such as the Service or Unit that may have been assigned when the component was placed. |
PlantSight | When working with a connected project which is provisioned to an iModel, a separate tab is added to the Explorer dialog. This tab lists all of the components stored in PlantSight. As with the active tree The components are categorized by project associations such as the Service, Unit, Plant Area etc. that may have been assigned when the component was placed. File Tab | The File tab displays the content of the file such as models, saved views, references, and so on. |
Items Tab | The Items tab is used to browse data about non-graphical business items that exist in DGN file. |
Resources Tab | The Resources tab is used to display shared resources being used by DGN in hierarchical order. |
Sheet Index Tab | The Sheet Index tab is used to manage sheet indexing. |
Links Tab | The Links tab is used to view the linked data. |
ToolBar Options
The following additional toolbar options are displayed when the OpenPlant Modeler or PlantSight tabs are active:
Setting | Description |

Refresh
|
If the Active Model tree is selected, then this option will sync that tree with the active drawing. If PlantSight tab is active, then it will sync that tree with the server. |
Transparent | Graphics not associated with the selected items are displayed transparently. Item(s) selected will remain opaque. |
Zoom | Zooms into the selected component. |
Isolate | Hides all other components in the model except for the selected component. |
Search | Enter the search condition or click the icon to conduct search. |
Expand the Query Builder | Expands or collapses the Add Criteria button for Criteria search. |
Add Criteria | Used to add search conditions for Criteria search. |
Advanced Search | Displays Advanced Search dialog. |
Clear Search | Clears any text entered in the search field. This icon only displays after a search query has been performed. |
Popup Menu (PlantSight Tab)
The following options are available from a popup menu which displays when you right-click on an object in PlantSight navigation tree.

Check Out by Volume |
When Volumes are defined in the project, this option lets you check out components contained within a defined volume. To do this, you would right-click on the volume and select this option. When you select this option the Volume Options dialog
displays which lets you select the type of components to include in the
checkout:
Select which type of components to check out and click OK. Note this checks out only the components contained within the volume and not the volume itself. To check out the physical volume, you would use the standard Check-Out command when you right-click on a volume. |
Reference out by Volume (Volume Node Only) |
When Volumes are defined in the project, this option lets you reference components contained within a defined volume. To do this, you would right-click on the volume and select this option. Note just like the above option, the Volume Options dialog displays so you can select which type of components to reference out. Also, this only references out the components contained within the volume and not the volume itself similar to the check out option above. |
Check-out | Check's out the selected component(s) to the local working model from PlantSight. When checked out, these components are locked on the server anc cannot be modified by another user until checked in using the Checkin All command available from the PlantSight ribbon. If a user tries to check out components that are locked on the server, the components will be referenced out instead. |
Reference Out | References out the selected component(s) in a read-only form. These items cannot be modified. |
Status | If an item has not been checked out the status will read Unlocked. If an item has been checked out by a user then the following information is displayed: |
Setting | Description |

Refresh | Syncs PlantSight tree in the active drawing with PlantSight. |

Clear Isolate | Return the model to a normal view. |
Details | Select this option to display the Details dialog. When an item is selected in the model, its detail information will display in the dialog. |
Properties | Opens the Properties dialog letting you view the defined properties of the selected component. |
Popup Menu (OpenPlant Modeler Tab)
The following options are available from a popup menu which displays when you right-click on an object in the OpenPlant Modeler navigation tree.
Setting | Description |

Check-in | This option gives you the flexibility to check in
individual Pipelines, Equipment, HVAC and Raceways other than having to use the
Check-in All option from PlantSight ribbon. It will go through the standard
check in process checking for differences and will display the
PlantSight Differences dialog if any are found.
If you check in a component which has depencendies,
such as pipeline which is connected to a vessel or a pump connected to a
pipeline you will be prompted to include the dependent items:
Click Yes to include the dependent items during the check in process. |
