Settings

Note: One of two methods must be used to route copper:
  1. Calculate Distance - Uses the spatially accurate DGN seed file with the correct projection and working units in order to route and calculate sheath lengths and place device model features in the correct location as they are drafted.
  2. Link to Strand - Uses the drafted Bentley Comms aerial, underground and duct facilities to define the sheath lengths and device locations as they are linked.

Use the check boxes under the Routing section of the Settings Dialog (below) to set these.

There are other settings for the Copper module that can be accessed by clicking on File > OpenComms Settings > OSP – Common > Settings. This will display the following setup dialog:

  • Link To Strand: Links copper devices to the OpenComms Strand or Duct features while routing the network. (See Note below.)
  • Auto Route: Route copper by selecting a start and ending location.
  • Calculate Distances: Calculate sheath lengths and device locations by distance and coordinates in the DGN. (See Note below.)
  • Conn Same Sheath: Allows fiber connection within same sheath. FIBER ONLY
  • Default Fiber Status: Set the default status for fibers. FIBER ONLY
  • Logical Fiber Numbers: Use logical numbers for fibers in X-Section Review, Manual Connections, Retain Order Splice Reports, etc. FIBER ONLY
  • Allow Edit of Customer Record: Allows customer records to be edited.
  • Write Traces To File: Allows trace to remain displayed on the map. If activated, the trace is written to the file and remains on Level 42 until it is deleted. The trace remains displayed on the map.
  • Fiber View Mode: View modes for XSection review dialog for fiber. FIBER ONLY
  • OS mode: Detail Mode on same XSec review: FIBER ONLY
  • Copper View Mode: View modes for copper. (Not used currently.)
  • Port Name View Mode: View modes for port names. FIBER ONLY
