Sheath Info

Bentley OpenComms Copper provides a Sheath Info tool which is used to place intelligent data info blocks (defined by the user) to display pertinent information about copper sheaths in a network. These data blocks can be place at any point on the mapping level. Any data stored to the sheath table or the custom attribute table associated with copper sheaths can be accessed, loaded into a custom data block, and posted to the database.

Creating a Sheath Info Block Model

  1. Open the Sheath Info dialog by clicking on File>OpenComms Settings>OSP – Common>Sheath Info to display the following setup dialog:

  2. Enter a Name for the Copper Sheath Info Block.
  3. Click Select to choose an appropriate cell and the Cell Library dialog displays:

  4. Scroll down the list, highlight a cell that has been defined with PBA (property-based annotation) fields, and click OK.
  5. Select the number of PBA data entry locations to use in the sheath info block by clicking the # Fields pull-down and selecting the number.

After choosing the number of PBA locations, a list opens in the Current Fill-ins (the middle) section of the Sheath Info Setup dialog box. The list displays the association between the Sheath Info cell number and the database field:

  6. Highlight one of the numbered PBA locations in the Current Fill-ins section. Referring to the new Sheath Info Cell, highlight an appropriate data field in the Available fill-in fields section.
  7. Click <- Set fill-in to create the association. The Current fill-ins list updates with the new information.
  8. Assign an available fill-in field for each data location in the Sheath Info cell, and then click Add to create the Sheath Info cell and save changes to the spec file:

Editing a Sheath Info Stamp

  1. From the Sheath Info Setup dialog box, select Edit and choose a sheath info from the pull-down menu. The selected sheath info loads the information into the dialog box:

  2. Edit the Sheath Info input fields and click Update to save changes to the spec file.

Deleting a Sheath Info Stamp Model

  1. Select Edit and choose a sheath info from the pull-down menu.
  2. Check the Delete Model check box. Click Update to remove the (previously unused) sheath info from the spec file.
Note: Sheath Info Block models that have already been used in the network design cannot be deleted.
