Reel BOM

This command assigns sheaths to reels for fiber sheath features in the extracted DGN file (Local) or for all fiber sheath features within a project (Global) as well as fence and shape options.

Assign Sheaths to Reels and Generate a Local or Global Report

  1. From the BOM section of the Fiber Tab select the Reel BOM icon to display the following options:

    Note: Report By Fence will report on all Bentley Fiber features rendered within a fenced area. Report By Shape will report on all Bentley Fiber features rendered within an existing shape feature (Hub, Tax District, Service Area, Wire Center Boundary, etc.). Local reporting will report on all Bentley Fiber features rendered in the drawing file. Global reporting will report on all Bentley Fiber features in the entire Comms project (Oracle user).
  2. A tumbleweed cursor (/-\.) displays while the report builds.
  3. The Reel Information dialog box opens.

  4. To assign sheaths to a reel, click the Select button to create a new database ID or view an existing reel ID.

  5. Select the reel being used and click OK.
    Note: For a new reel ID select the NEW Link ID from the list.
  6. The Edit Reel Information dialog box opens.

  7. Key in the information for the reel and click OK.
  8. From the Reel Information dialog box, select an unassigned sheath to be assigned and click Assign. The sheath moves to the assigned sheaths column and updates the reel length total.
  9. To edit the reel information, such as ID, manufacturer or description, click Edit.
  10. Make changes and click OK.
  11. After the sheaths are assigned, either select Done if completed or Report to generate a reel BOM report file.
  12. Click Report > Output > Text File and enter a name to save the report. If you do not want to save the report, just view it.
  13. Click Cancel to exit the report.
  14. Click Detail > Output > Text File to generate a detailed BOM report. Enter a name to save the report or just view the report.
  15. Click Cancel to exit the report.
  16. Click Done to exit the Reel Information.
