Query and Post Oracle Spatial Data

Query is used to extract graphical information from the Oracle Spatial database and display the graphical features on the map while post saves added features or modifications to the Oracle database version.

  1. After clicking on the Query Features icon from the Spatial Tools toolbar, the Query Features dialog will open allowing the user to select or de-select which features to extract.

  2. Select the feature that will be queried in Oracle Spatial.

    • Select all or none of the features from a specific category by right clicking on it and then selecting All or None.
    • Expand a category by clicking the + sign and check or uncheck the individual feature.
  3. In the ‘Spatial Extent:’ dropdown, Select All to extract every feature identified in the Interoperability dialog box, View to extract only the actual view and Fence to extract features inside a fence.
  4. Click on the Map to start the query process.
Note: Only click once on the map. The extraction process will restart for each time a click was made on the map.
  5. Wait until the querying process is completed and click on a different command to exit the querying function.

You can follow the extraction progress by looking in the information section at the bottom of the MicroStation window.

Note: All changes made during a short transaction session will have to be posted and merged when exiting OpenComms or they will not be saved to the database and will not be able to be re-queried.
