Import/Export

The Import and Export commands are used mainly to save the inside plant equipment specification into a text format file so it can be transported to a different database or stored for future use.

Import an Inside Plant Spec File

  1. From the File > OpenComms Settings > ISP dialog select the Import tab.
  2. The Inside Plant Import File dialog box opens.
  3. Enter a new inside plant spec file name to import or select the default spec file name (inside.asc) and click OK to load the specifications into the database.
    Note: If the Inside Plant database already contains specifications, a window opens warning the user that the import equipment templates will not be loaded into the database.

To Export an Inside Plant Specification File

  1. From the File > OpenComms Settings > ISP dialog select the Export tab.
  2. The Inside Plant Export File dialog box opens.

  3. Click OK to accept the default export file name or enter a new file name and click OK to save it under a different name.

Create an Equipment File Report

  1. From the File > OpenComms Settings > ISP dialog select the Equipment Report tab.
  2. The Inside Plant Equipment Specification Report dialog box opens.

  3. Select Output > Text File and enter a report file name to save the report.
