Connections Auto

The Auto command automatically connects fibers to the node internals and/or between buildings and sets the optical system name

Automatically Connect Fibers by Node

  1. From the OpenComms Fiber Tab under the Modify/Delete section, select the Connections Auto command:

  2. Select a Node from which to route.
  3. Click YES to connect to a Headend or NO to connect to a splice.
  4. The (Dis)Connect Fiber by Node dialog box opens.

    Note: This command must be completed at an individual node location.
  5. Select the internal(s) to be connected.
  6. Activate the Keep same Buffer/Color check box for the connected fiber.
  7. Choose a splice option, either Fusion or No Splice.
  8. Choose an Owner and a connection option. Disconnect disconnects the fiber(s).
  9. Select GO. The route of the fiber(s) displays in the view, indicating a connected path to the HeadEnd. A Fiber Connection Report also displays and can be output to a text file for printing or importing.

Automatically Connect Fibers Between Buildings

  1. From the Bentley Fiber menu, select Connection > Auto.
  2. Select the first building to connect.
  3. Select the second building to connect. An Auto Connect dialog box displays fibers and connection options.

  4. Key in the number of fibers to connect.
  5. Choose a splice type, either Fusion or No Splice.
  6. Choose the fiber owner.
  7. Select the check box to keep the same buffer/color for the connected fiber.
  8. Select Connect. The route of the fiber(s) display in the view, indicating a connected path between the buildings. A Fiber Connection Report also displays that can be output to a text file for printing or importing.

Disconnect Internals

  1. Select the Connect button to change the selection to Disconnect.
  2. Select the internal(s) to be disconnected.
  3. Select GO to disconnect.
  4. Select DONE when completed.
