Creating a CPVExtract Project
A CPVExtract Project is a user defined set of parameters that defines an OpenComms Designer database connection—i.e. the database username, password, seed file, and the database connection parameters.
- Double click the shortcut from the CPVExtract.exe created in step 2 above. In the Export dialog fill in the User Name with the database user and the password used to connect to that user:
- Click the Configure button to display the Define Projects dialog.
- Click the Add button to
display the Add New Project dialog—fill in or select the correct information
for each field and then click Test:
- Name—can be any user-defined label. This label is what displays in the Project dropdown on the Login screen.
- Comms Username—must be the same as the OpenComms database username. This value must match the Workset name for the OpenComms Designer project.
- Workspace Project—must
be the same as the Workspace project name—will be populated in the dropdown
list.
Note: If the dropdown arrow does not display the Workspace project(s), the following line will need to be added or edited in the CPVExtract.exe.config file (in the root directory of OpenComms Designer):
<add key=OpenCommsWorkspaceBaseFolder value=W:\OpenComms\Configuration\Workspaces/>
Edit the value inside the double quotes with the correct ‘Workspaces’ path to the project.
- Seed Filename—use the Browse button to drill to the appropriate seed file for the Extract.
- Parameters—the database parameters and credentials required for the connection.
Clicking Test will bring up the Credentials dialog—fill in the Password and click Login.
- After logging in on the Enter Database Credentials dialog, the Add New Project dialog should show a ‘Successfully connected to the database’ message at the bottom. Click the Create button in this dialog, and the Define Projects dialog should add this new project:
- Click Done to finish the Project creation and the Login page for CPV Extractor should display.
