Bentley OpenComms Designer Help

Copper Route

  1. Click the Copper Route icon and the following dialog displays:

  2. Start routing by either placing a new piece of equipment by selecting an equipment device type from the Devices drop down menu, or by selecting existing equipment from the map and from which a new span will be placed.
  3. If the Link to Strand setting option is activated, you are asked to select a strand device on the map in which to link the equipment. (Watch the instruction menu in the lower left corner of the OpenComms application.)

After selecting the strand device to connect to, a dialog box may open to choose the model that will be used. (If more than one model has been entered for an equipment type, select the pull-down arrow and drag down to the model that is to be used.)

“Strand”, in this instance, refers to aerial, direct bury underground or duct facilities in the OpenComms data model.

  4. Click OK to confirm the selection.
  5. Place the equipment on the map or press Reset to change the angle of the device. If Reset is selected, next select two points on the map using the Data button to set the angle.
  6. After placing the device, you are prompted to enter an ID or name.
  7. Key in an ID or name and press Enter.
