Subscription Entitlement Service (SES)

This product version utilizes Subscription Entitlement Service (SES), which is not supported by SELECT activation key(s). SES is a free service, featuring new behavior to enhance your organization's user administration and security with mandatory user sign-in via CONNECTION Client to access the application. If you are already signed in to the CONNECTION Client, you have met this prerequisite. If you have not, please refer to the Administrator's Resource Center and/or contact your administrator for assistance in the registration and sign-in process.

Upgrading your OpenCities Map Project

The format of the MicroStation CONNECT Edition workspace has changed from the V8i Workspace. Bentley Geospatial Administrator takes these changes into account, therefore if you are working with a basic OpenCities Map project, no changes need to be made in your project workspaces.

To make your Bentley Map V8i project work with OpenCities Map CONNECT Edition:

  1. Open your schema file with Bentley Geospatial Administrator CONNECT Edition
  2. Export the project into the defined workspace
  3. Recreate any project start icons.
  • MVBVA programs are now loaded using the key-in VBA execute. The previous key-in macro VBA execute is no longer valid.
  • OpenCities Map CONNECT Edition uses 64-bit ODBC drivers. Ensure you re-create your data sources using the ODBC 64-bit Data Source Administrator.

Upgrading OpenCities Map Applications

The OpenCities Map API has not changed so minimal changes need to be made to your geospatial applications that use the Map API. Regardless you will have to recompile your applications for OpenCities Map CONNECT Edition.

In addition, MicroStation has made many changes between the V8i and CONNECT editions. Below are a number of resources to help you move your applications to the CONNECT platform.

Keep in mind that Bentley Geospatial Administrator takes into account the new workset/workspace configuration changes so unless your application uses custom workspace settings then these should generally be left alone.
