Search Dialog
Used to define a search criterion that can be applied against the properties of the selected feature class.
File Menu
Setting | Description |
---|---|
New | Creates a new empty search form, replacing the previous search. It is necessary to clear the previous search. |
Open | Opens a saved search. |
Save | Saves the current search to a file. |
Save As | Saves the current search to a differently named file. |
Close | Closes the search form. |

Where... Menu
Defines the various criteria for the search.
Setting | Description |
---|---|
Spatial Extents | Includes feature instances that match the spatial criteria. Does the object overlap the selected view, fence, or selection set. If a selection set or fence is not active then those options will not appear in the list of valid spatial extents. |
Property value is | Includes feature instances that match the selected criteria. The user selects the property to be searched, defines a logical operator and then a value to be applied to the search. |
Related item is | Does not apply to Bentley Map users. |
After defining the search criteria, click Add to add that criteria to the search operation.
An example search is shown below. It states "Find all lot shapes whose Class is equal to ‘RU’ AND whose propVal is greater than or equal to 100,000 AND whose geometry overlaps View 1.
Search Options
Various search options are available to the right of the feature class selector.
Setting | Description |
---|---|
Search for items and their sub-items | Does not apply to Bentley Map users. |
Add and remove properties to be selected in the search | Defines which properties should be shown in the Data Browser after the search has been performed. |
Define the sort order of the search | Defines how the results of the search should be sorted in the Data Browser. It is always possible to further sort the results from the Data Browser itself. |
