Print Preparation

Print Preparation is only available with the OpenCities Map Advanced and OpenCities Map Ultimate editions of this product.

Print Preparation is used to generate print models from your design files for plotting. There are two components:

Administration tools that are used to define the print templates. Print templates are sheet (print) models in a configured DGN library that includes OpenCities Map specific objects such as viewport definitions, north arrows, and text to be replaced at plot time. Print templates also include other text or graphics that would complete your print border. The administration tools are found in the Print Templates ribbon group located in the Map Admin workflow.

Placement tools which are used to place the components of the selected template on your map. The end result is a new sheet (print) model in the active design file that contains the components of the print template. For clarity, the generated sheet model is referred as a print model. All viewports will be clipped to their frames, the north arrow cells rotated to correctly describe any rotated views and some of the text values replaced. The new print model is opened to apply further details such as marking overlapping view ports, updating text placeholders, or placing coordinate values. In addition, you can use any MicroStation tool to add notes or other details to the print model. The placement tools are found in the Print Model ribbon group located in the Map and Map Admin workflows.
