To create a straight stair

Select the Stair Maker tool.
The Stair Maker dialog opens.

From the Configuration menu, choose the first icon representing a
straight stair.
The Stair Maker dialog displays the specific fields for creating a straight stair.
- (Optional) Select a family from the Family combo box. The first part belonging to the selected family displays in the Part field, along with a description to the right of the Family field.
- (Optional) Select a part from the Part option menu.
- Set the Extrusion menu to Building Designer forms or shapes.
- From the Type option menu, choose Closed or Open.
- Set the Level to either Default or Active.
- Set the Symbology for the form.
- Enter the width of each tread into the Tread Width field.
- Enter the height of each step’s riser into the Riser Height field.
- Enter into the Tread field the measurement of the tread from the front of the step to the riser, not including the nosing.
- Enter the length of the nosing into the Nosing field. The value to the right of Tread Depth automatically calculates.
- Enter the total height of the stairs, measuring the positive Y-axis of the total height the stairway spans.
- Enter the total length of the stairs, measuring the positive X-axis of the length the stairway spans
- Enter the thickness of the landing.
- Set the vertical angle of the stairs
- Enter the number of risers comprising the staircase

Click Place.
The Place Compound Cell dialog opens.
