Define an element template for a map
The search pane's Template column provides an alternative to the Color column for rendering search results by applying Element Templates to the thematic map.

Highlight a search criteria, and click the
Template column.
A template selector pop up dialog appears. All saved element templates appear on the selector pop up dialog. If none are available, one must be defined.

Click
Customize...
The Element Templates dialog opens.

Click the
New Template tool.
A new template group and template is added to the tree diagram. By default, only the General Settings (basic symbology) properties are enabled.
- Define the new template to override the other symbologies associated with the search criteria.
- Close the Element Templates dialog.
- Return to the Thematic Maps dialog, and set the newly defined element template for one of the search criteria.
- Refresh the map by selecting .
