OpenBuildings™ Station Designer Help

Route Analysis

The OpenBuildings Station Designer dataset comply with local standards such as ASHRAE (SMACNA) or CIBSE (BS or DW) for duct routing and the physical geometry of components in duct system. Rather than creating separate databases for each standard, the dataset utility allows users to set preferences for the type and geometry of the fittings used to create a HVAC system that will be placed automatically during routing and comply with the appropriate guidelines.

Tools used to analyze HVAC systems, optimize duct system sizing and interface with external manufacturing applications as well as a tool for setting autofitting preferences to various HVAC fittings. The tools derive analytical data used for manufacturing using standard functions such as route analysis, air flow calculations, size duct work etc.

In addition to placement, modification and manipulations tools, Mechanical discipline offers a powerful route analysis utility. The Duct System sizing tool is capable of optimizing route design, generating center lines, updated air flow data attached to each system component, assigns system ID properties and insulates route including inline components in the route, rebuilding systems and identifying disconnected components, provides navigation options to isolate individual components, and gathers design data.
