New and Changed in OpenBuildings Station Designer CONNECT Edition, Update 5

OpenBuildings Station Designer CONNECT Edition, Update 5 (v10.05.00.xx) is the maiden release of OpenBuildings Station Designer and it is branded as 'Update 5' to reinforce compatibility with OpenBuildings Designer releases.

Note: OpenBuildings Station Designer will only available in English with a Neutral Metric dataset with plans to expand to other languages and regional datasets in future updates.

This release of OpenBuildings Station Designer incorporates the features, capabilities and updates from OpenBuildings Designer CONNECT Edition Update 5 and MicroStation CONNECT Edition Update 12. Please refer to the What's New Highlights sections below for some of the product updates and enhancements.

GenerativeComponents Design Templates

GenerativeComponents, Update 5 (v10.05.00.xx) is also available as a companion feature and this computation design platform can easily be included as part of any deployment of OpenBuildings Station Designer. Specialized GenerativeComponents Computational Design templates are included with OpenBuildings Station Designer to address the specific needs of Station Design.

LEGION Model Builder Pedestrian Simulation Modeling

LEGION Model Builder CONNECT Edition (v10.00.00.xx ) is also available and licensed as an application companion and this Pedestrian Simulation Modeling platform can easily be included as part of any deployment of OpenBuildings Station Designer. LEGION Model Builder allows you to populate the model based on activities and characteristics such as size, speed, and personal preferences and define the physical and operational characteristics of the pedestrian environment you need to test, such as designating areas where activities like waiting occur.

LEGION Simulator Pedestrian Simulations

LEGION Simulator CONNECT Edition (v10.00.00.xx ) is also available as an application companion but requires a separate license and is not included with OpenBuildings Station Designer. LEGION Simulator generates simulations from the LEGION Model Builder with predictive capacity across a wide range of scenarios and explores how pedestrians and crowds interact with infrastructure.

Functional Space Layout

A ready to use catalog of functional space types specific to stations for layout and reporting.

Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment

A ready to use catalog of equipment (e.g. ticket kiosks, gate turnstiles, passenger information displays) for space planning. The Place User Defined Types (Object) tool is expanded with these catalogs. More equipment is available in Components Center, which can be added to your OpenBuildings Station Designer catalogs via the Working with Components Center .

Example WorkSet

A new WorkSpace; Station_Examples provides an example WorkSet; StationDesignerTemplate_NM. This is an example of what OpenBuildings Station Designer is capable of creating.

Geographic Coordination

Design coordination with OpenRail Designer and OpenRoads Designer utilizing the geographic coordinate system.

Update Via CONNECTION Client

Since this is the maiden release OpenBuildings Station Designer, an update is not available from the CONNECTION Client and requires download and installation from CONNECT Center > Software Downloads.

If you would like the full installation of OpenBuildings Station Designer CONNECT Edition Update 5, please follow these steps to download it from Fulfillment Center:

  1. Sign in to Bentley.com
  2. Browse to Support
  3. Select Go To Portal
  4. Choose Software Downloads from "My Support"
  5. Select the Brand 'OpenBuildings' and then select the Generation of CONNECT Edition.
  6. Download the latest release by clicking on the arrow to expand the OpenBuildings Station Designer product category and then select OpenBuildings Station Designer CONNECT Edition x64 (CL) Update 5 (version 10.05.00.xx) for download.

 The Fulfillment Center can also be accessed through the CONNECTION Client. Open the CONNECTION Client from the system tray and select CONNECTION Center. Scroll down the "My Support" section and select the "Software Downloads" portal.
