Analytical Space Model (ASM) Energy Settings & Validation

Used for validating and adding additional energy settings to ASM's exported from OpenBuildings Station Designer.

The Analytical Space Model (ASM) Energy Settings & Validation dialog opens automatically when OpenBuildings Energy Simulator project DGN's which have not been validated are opened.

Accessed from:
  • Ribbon: Energy Simulator > Home > ASM > Validation
With this tool, you can:
  • Define the geographical project location and corresponding weather profile
  • Select the calculation standard that exposes room energy templates
  • Validate/add surface construction materials
  • Divide the building into HVAC zones
  • Review the ASM
SettingDescription
Toolbar
  • Transparent - Toggles the Display Style in the active view. When on, objects are displayed with the Smooth Display display style. The Transparent icon is highlighted when in the "on" mode.

    When off, objects are displayed with the Wireframe Display display style. The Transparent icon is not highlighted when in the "off" mode.

  • Highlight - When on, Room objects selected from the Project Tree or the settings tabs are highlighted in the active view. The Highlight icon is highlighted when in the "on" mode.

    When off, Room objects selected from the Project Tree or the settings tabs are not highlighted. The Highlight icon is not highlighted when in the "off" mode.

  • Zoom - Used to zoom in on and fit the selected object in the active view. When a room is selected from the Project Tree or from the settings panel, and the Zoom icon is click, the object is zoomed in on in the active view.
  • Isolate - When on, Room objects selected from the Project Tree or the settings tabs are displayed in the active view while the other model objects are clipped from the active view . The Isolate icon is highlighted when in the "on" mode.

    When off, Room objects selected from the Project Tree or the settings tabs are not isolated. The Isolate icon is not highlighted when in the "off" mode.

  • Select - When on, Room objects selected from the Project Tree or the settings tabs are selected. The Select icon is highlighted when in the "on" mode.

    When off, Room objects selected from the Project Tree or the settings tabs are not selected. The Select icon is not highlighted when in the "off" mode.

Project Tree Filter Used to change the types of objects being displayed in the Project Tree. Available drop down menu items are:
  • All - Displays all objects in the ASM.
  • Floor View - Displays only those objects contained in Floor objects.
  • Zone View - Displays only those objects contained in Zone objects.
Project Tree Used to navigate the hierarchical structure of the objects in the ASM. Selections made here update the objects in the ASM and in the dialog settings tab.
Notifications The Notifications panel is a validation utility that assists you in all aspects of designing, modeling, data management, and energy performance calculations and simulation in OpenBuildings Energy Simulator. The Notifications is ubiquitous in nature appearing in the Analytical Space Model (ASM) Energy Settings & Validation dialog as well as in the main application window and in the various database managers and properties dialogs.
Settings Tabs
Apply Applies changes made to the ASM, and closes the dialog.
Close Discards changes made to the ASM, and closes the dialog. You are prompted to Save changes? before the Analytical Space Model (ASM) Energy Settings & Validation dialog closes.
