Transverse Sections and Bar Marks
The concrete column schedule shows the unique set of transverse sections that occur in the 3D model. A transverse section represents a combination of a column section (e.g. 18x20) and a pattern of parallel and transverse steel reinforcement bars.
Transverse sections information displayed in concrete column schedules includes:
- Bar Mark – a callout designating type of transverse section.
- Section Legend – summary of the different patterns of perpendicular reinforcement sections at each bar mark.
The Section Legend is placed below the primary schedule table. The section legend contains an entry for each bar mark that depicts the cross-section of the column and the reinforcement.
For each bar mark, the column section, parallel reinforcement and perpendicular reinforcement are shown.
The concrete reinforcement that is considered in the classification of the sections have the following reinforcement properties:
Note: For example, two columns that use the same section (e.g. 18x20) and have similar reinforcement except for the spacing of the perpendicular ties will both have the same bar mark because the perpendicular spacing is excluded. Similarly, columns that have identical reinforcement except the columns are different lengths will also have the same bar mark because the layout path is excluded.
