Configuration Locations

In OpenBuildings Speedikon CONNECT Edition, you can define two Configuration locations at install time.

First is the Delivered or Installed Configuration. This is the location where the example WorkSpaces are installed. By default, it is installed in C:\ProgramData\Bentley\<product_name> CONNECT Edition\Configuration\ folder. To install it at another location, select the location in the Delivered Configuration field in the Configuration page of the installer.

Second Configuration is the Custom or Shared Configuration, which can contain user’s WorkSpaces and WorkSets. To change the path of this Configuration, in the Configuration page, select the Custom Configuration (plus Delivered Configuration) radio button and then set the path in the Custom Configuration field. This Custom Configuration path is in turn written in the ConfigurationSetup.cfg file. The WorkSpaces created in this Configuration are displayed as Custom Configuration WorkSpaces in the Work Page.

Note: It is highly recommended that you use the Custom Configuration for your MicroStation Configuration work and not the Delivered Configuration. The Delivered Configuration primarily contains example data for your reference and may get updated in future releases.

Post-installation, you can define a third Configuration location using the <-WR> command line argument. Such a Configuration is displayed as User Configuration in the WorkSpaces drop-down list in the Work Page.

The variable IEZstd controls the directory for the Speedikon Standard files. In the speedi.ini the variable IEZstd is set to: IEZstd=%SPConfigDir%\Speedikon.

SPConfigDir contains the Delivered Configuration directory as set during installation. If a Custom Configuration is used, then the SPConfigDir variable points to the value of _USTN_CUSTOM_CONFIGURATION in the ConfigurationSetup.cfg file.

Without changing the default setting, the Delivered Configuration will result in: C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenBuildings CONNECT Edition\Configuration\Speedikon . Under Speedikon\ the folders adm, std, mcr etc. are then created.

The variable IEZstd can still be set in the user.ini . This overwrites the setting from the delivered speedi.ini . The recommend place for the user.ini is in …\Speedikon\std\main\ or …\Speedikon\std\<companystd>\ in the Custom or Delivered Configuration directory.

If a Custom Configuration is defined, the user.ini should be placed in the Custom Configuration directory. If only the Delivered Configuration is defined, the user.ini should be placed in the Delivered Configuration directory. If a Custom Configuration is defined, you have to place all WorkSpaces and WorkSets that you want to use with OpenBuildings Speedikon in the Custom Configuration Directory. Speedikon Project Manager > F6 > OpenBuildings Speedikon tab or Speedikon Project Manager > Project > OpenBuildings Speedikon tab will only access the files in the Custom Configuration Directory if it is defined.
