OpenBuildings™ Designer Readme

Known Issues

Known Issues of OpenBuildings Designer CONNECT Edition.

  • It is recommended not to share datasets with both Legacy and ProStructures mode. Datasets function best when the projects using them use the same structural elements.
  • Assembly Builder: Assembly created with elements that are associated with the graphics group are not supported. e.g., Compound walls, when placed through assembly builder, Compound walls are dropped to their layered wall.
  • Before using Update 9, DataGroup Upgrade Utility must be run to make sure all new properties are used on elements.
  • Undo functionality is not supported in Energy Simulator.
  • OpenBuildings ™ Station Designer companion product is based on Neutral Metric Dataset.
  • Program Manager: You can use the MicroStation copy command to make copy of a placed space to sync with the Program Manager. But you can copy only one space at a time. Selecting multiple spaces at a time for copy operation will not function properly. This limitation will be fixed in future releases.
  • Content Creator:
    • In specific instances when using the placement method By Face to create a connection point the tool will fail to create this point and a message of Invalid Element is listed on the tool tip. This is due to the cell being created with surface modeling rather than using MicroStation solids. In this case the connections can be created using the placement method By Point.
    • During the component creation process, you may encounter a pop-up message as "Add at least one HVAC/Plumbing connector to create the Content" and an error message in the Message Center as "Connection combination do not exist". This is because you are trying to create a connection combination of EndSpec, which is not delivered.

Resolution: Close OpenBuildings Designer and launch with Admin rights i.e Run as administrator and execute the create component workflow again.
