Define the Concept Building Thermal Information
Setting up the concept building's thermal information is done in the Thermal Info tab.
- General settings define the calculation standard to be used for energy simulations as well as the building type and default room type.
- Constructions settings define the material constructions used to model the different surface types associated with the concept building.
- Internal conditions settings define the concept building's thermal conditions for winter and summer as well as internal heat gains. These properties are used for running energy simulations.
- In the General settings, select ASHRAE 2007 from the drop down menu provided for the Standard setting. Sets the ASHRAE 2007 standard is set for simulation runs on the conceptual building.
- Select Office from the drop down menu provided for the Building type setting. Office buildings have different thermal properties than hospitals for instance.
- Select 2007: Office - Open Plan from the drop down menu provided for the Room type setting. The room type selected here is used when modeling the concept building's overall space (Room).
- In the Constructions settings, select material constructions to apply to the external surfaces of the concept building from the drop down menus provided. U Values are displayed for selected constructions.
- (Optional) If you want to use a construction which not displayed in the Conceptual Modeling dialog, then click Material manager to open the Materials Manager where you can select or create material constructions.
- In the Internal conditions settings, keep the defaults for the internal design temperatures and humidity (% Saturation).
- Keep the defaults for winter and summer infiltration rates.
- Click Apply to apply changes to the concept building.
