Used to construct an
opening in a form. Normally, an opening is generated by a shape or a compound
cell; however, you can also create openings by overlapping shapes. Creating an
opening from a union of shapes: When you create juxtaposing and/or overlapping
openings in a form, the opening shapes unite, providing one overall opening
shape.

Note: Union of opening
shapes results when you:
- Create a new opening
using overlapping shapes.
- Create an opening with
a shape that juxtaposes or overlaps an existing opening.

Specifies the element type used to create the
opening:
-
Shape — Creates the opening using a
shape.
- Compound
Cell — Creates the opening using a compound cell.

When on, the shape(s) that generates the openings
is (are) deleted from the design file. When off, the perforators appear as
dashed lines. This setting is available only when
is selected.
|
Method
|
Identifies the manner in which the compound cell
detects forms. This setting is available only when
is selected.:
|
Sense Distance
|
Sets the default distance over which the compound
cell searches for a linear form.
This setting is available only when
and
are selected.
|
Note: An opening is
always constructed perpendicular to the plane of the shape.
Note: A compound cell may
have more than one perforator shape. The order in which the perforator shapes
are selected during the creation of the compound cell defines the order in
which the forms must be identified. For example, the first perforator creates
an opening in the first identified form, and the second perforator in the
second form. If more forms are identified than the actual number of
perforators, the last perforator is be used for all subsequently identified
forms. Compound cells with more than one perforator are usually placed in
multi-layered walls such as cavity walls.
Note: An opening shape
can be a normal shape element as well as a perforator within a compound cell.
CAUTION: An
opening shape that is the result of overlapping opening shapes cannot be
converted back to its original comprising shapes.
