OpenBuildings™ Designer Help

Publish iModel(s) Dialog

Used to convert a design file into an .i.dgn file. All design files that can be opened in OpenBuildings Designer can be converted into an iModel. Also used to combine (package) the set of published .i.dgn files and its references into a single, protected file. Publishes the master file, each of its displayed references, resulting in a corresponding .i.dgn file for each.

All options that you have selected in the Publish iModel(s) dialog can be saved as an .XML file. You can then open the saved file and use the saved settings.

You can access this dialog from the following:
  • Ribbon: File > Publish iModel
  • Key-in: PUBLISHDGN DIALOG

Cache Visible Edges for 3D Attachments If on, the references that are set to Dynamic and are valid for being converted to cached are published as Cached. The references that are set to Cached are published as Cached and are reprocessed only if they are out of date.

A reference is considered as valid for being converted to cache, if the following are true:

  • There is a 3D model directly attached to a 2D sheet or a drawing.
  • The reference’s Visible Edges display is set to Dynamic.
  • The Forward, Backward, Cut, or Outside area of the clip volume is displayed.
  • If the Reference Presentation uses either a Hidden Line or Filled Hidden Line based display style.
  • If the Presentation column in the References dialog displays (From Clip Volume Settings) and one of the displayed volumes in the Clip Volume Settings section of Reference Presentation dialog uses either a Hidden Line or Filled Hidden Line based display style.

If off, and if a cache is up to date, it will be published as is. If it is out of date, it is published as Dynamic.

When on, improves the portability and display performance of the published iModels, at the cost of additional publishing time.
