OpenBuildings™ Designer Help

To view ASHRAE 90.1 prescriptive results for the building Service Water Heating systems

  1. Run an ASHRAE 90.1 calculation.

    The calculation settings dialog opens.

  2. Select the Service Water Heating tab from the dialog.

Service water heating is the heating of water for domestic or commercial purposes other than space heating and process requirements. The standard requires the water heaters in the building to operate using the efficiency ratings determined for the equipment using the tests and methods prescribed in the standard.

  3. Scroll to the end of the report to see the determination of overall compliance of the building water heating systems. Compare the rated and required energy efficiencies for the water heaters in the building. Each water heater must meet the required power efficiency requirements for compliance. If one of the water heaters is not in compliance, a change in its design should be considered.
