Content Creator

Content Creator is used to import a cell and attach Mechanical connection ports that include size, shape, discipline and apply DataGroup data from a similar existing component within OpenBuildings Designer DataGroup. During the process of creation it is possible to define the location and reuse created components.

  • Ribbon: Building Systems Design > Content > Content Creator > Content Creator
SettingDescription
Destination Sets one of the destination directory level for dataset, where Directory can be set filtered to either Organization or Workspace or Workset.
Discipline Used to select a discipline from the drop-down list to assign to the catalog type being defined.
Category Displays the sub categories that define the part/family group (Category) to which the catalog type will belong. For example, for the "HVAC" group, the sub groups HVAC Equipments, Ducts, Air Handling Units etc could be set here.
Component Data
  • Cell Name - The Browse for cel file () opens a dialog where the *.cel file can be selected. The defined cells are selected from the drop-down list.
  • Name - Used to enter the name to be displayed for the catalog item in the Catalog Type list.
    Note: The Total Width, Total Height , Total Length and Unit are disabled fields in the Content Creator dialog. The following fields display the width, height, length and unit of the cell model.
Catalog Type Sets the DataGroup catalog type to be used for the components.
Connector Points Opens a TempModel view to add Mechanical Connections and Placement Points.
OK Adds Mechanical Connections and Placement Points by accepting the changes.
Cancel Closes the Content Creator dialog without saving any changes.

Placement Point Adds Placement Point on the cell by using different Placement Point options.
Connector Adds connectors based on it's Connection Type.
Note: The placement points created with connectors, can't be deleted unless the user deletes the connections.

  • Place HVAC Connector - Adds HVAC Connectors by selecting one of the Placement Method.
  • Place Plumbing Connector - Adds Plumbing Connectors by selecting one of the Placement Method.
Placement Method
  • By Point - It helps to snap key points like center of a closed shape, midpoint of lines, etc.
  • By Face - Identifies a Round/Rectangular/Flat Oval (a polygon) shape from the cell file. Once the shape is selected, it locates the center point of the shape and highlight it as connection center.
Finish Completes the custom component creation process and comes out of tempmodel workflow to Content Creator dialog.
Cancel Cancels the custom component creation process and comes out of tempmodel workflow to Content Creator dialog.
