Table Sections

Structural Synchronizer uses Bentley Structure Property Catalog to manage sections. To review the available section tables in Structural Synchronizer, go to the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\Engineering\SPC Server v8i SS4\Tools. From there, launch Bentley.Structural.PropertyCatalog.ManagementStudio.exe by double clicking on this file. Once the property catalog studio is running, you can review the delivered sections.

While OpenBuildings Designer delivers many section tables, Structural Synchronizer only has five: US, US (metric), UK, Europe, and India. When a section is exported to Structural Synchronizer that is not included in one of these five section tables, it must be exported as a Parametric Section.

AISC (American Institute of Steel Construction): These are US sections. If you review the wide flange sections.

When reviewing the section definition file US.XML delivered with OpenBuildings Designer, it is evident that many section have equivalent counterparts in the Bentley Structure Property Catalog database. Notice the first several sections: "W44X335", "W44X290", "W44X262", "W44X230", "W40X593", "W40X503" all have counterparts in the Bentley Structure Property Catalog database.

Because of this correspondence, these sections are exported to Structural Synchronizer as a Table Section.
