ASHRAE 90.1 (2010): Lighting tab
Contains controls used to view prescriptive option compliance results for the Lighting portion of the ASHRAE 90.1 (2010) requirements.
Lighting requirements are specified in section 9 of the ASHRAE 90.1 (2010) standard, and include general and mandatory provisions, the Building Area Method and the Space-By-Space Method compliance path options.
Tip: You can
open the
Results Viewer
utility to step through the calculations for displayed results
by selecting the result value and clicking for more information (as prompted).
Setting | Description |
---|---|
Interior Lighting | Displays prescriptive results for the interior lighting design of
the project building. Reports for the power allowances (using two methods of
compliance) and the inputted power amounts are listed. The total internal
lighting power allowance is the sum of all individual power allowances. To
comply, the total interior lighting power allowance must be less than the total
input wattage.
Tip:
Interior lighting data, including exemptions and allowances, is defined for
each room in the building by using the settings provided for the
Lighting Component
. Lighting components are automatically created in rooms
whenever a room is created. They can also be placed manually in any room.
|
Interior Lighting Power Allowance (Building Area Method) | Displays prescriptive results for the interior lighting power
allowance for the Building Area Method compliance path option. The Building
Area Method is the is the simplest way of determining lighting power
allowances, and is appropriate for an entire building or an entire occupancy in
a multi-occupancy building.
|
Interior Lighting Power Allowance (Space-by-Space Method) | Displays prescriptive results for the interior lighting power
allowance for the Space-by-Space Method compliance path option. The
Space-by-Space Method determines lighting power allowances for each space
(room) in the building individually. This method provides greater flexibility
with trade-offs and is applicable for all building types.
|
Interior Connected Lighting Power | Displays prescriptive results for the interior connected lighting
power. The interior CLP is the sum of all the input power (wattages) the
building luminaires are rated for. This value should be lower than the interior
power allowance in order to comply with the standard.
|
Additional Lighting Power Allowance | Displays prescriptive results for additional interior power
allowances permitted by the standard. Additional lighting power allowances
include lighting used for decorative purposes, lighting installed to meet the
requirements of video display terminals, and for display lighting in retail
sales areas.
|
Exterior Lighting | Displays prescriptive results for the exterior
lighting design of the project building. Reports for the power allowances (for
tradable and non-tradable applications) and the inputted power amounts are
listed. The total external lighting power allowance is the sum of all tradable
and non-tradable power allowances plus an unrestricted 5% additional allowance.
To comply, the total exterior lighting power allowance must be less than the
total input wattage. Exterior lighting standard requirements are separate from
interior lighting requirements and include trade-offs for compliance in special
applications. Interior lighting and exterior lighting can not share trade-offs.
Tip:
Exterior lighting data, including tradable and non-tradable allowances and
exemptions, is defined for each of the building external luminaires by using
the settings provided for the
Building Lighting Component
. The building lighting component is added manually by
selecting a menu option on the
building object in the
OpenBuildings Designer Project Tree dialog box.
|
Exterior Lighting Power Allowance (Tradable Lighting Applications) | Displays prescriptive results for the exterior power allowance
for exterior lighting in tradable applications. Tradable applications include
lighting for parking areas (uncovered), building grounds, entrances, exits,
canopies and overhangs, and outdoor sales areas.
|
Exterior Lighting Power Allowance (Non-Tradable Lighting Applications) | Displays prescriptive results for the exterior power allowance
for exterior lighting in non-tradable applications. Non-tradable applications
include lighting for building facades, ATM´s, guarded entrances and gate
houses, loading areas for emergency vehicles (police, fire, ambulances, etc.),
restaurant drive up windows and parking near 24–hour retail entrances.
|
Base Site Allowance | Displays the base site allowance. It is also known as the Initial Wattage Allowance (IWA), and is defined as the default amount of watts allowed, dependant on the outdoor lighting zone (Section 9.4.3 Exterior Building Lighting Power, Table 9.4.3A Exterior Lighting Zones). There are five outdoor lighting zones (0, 1, 2, 3, and 4). The value displayed comes from the standard (Section Exterior Building Lighting Power, Table 9.4.3B Individual Lighting Power Allowances for Building Exteriors). |
Exterior Connected Lighting Power (Tradable Applications) | Displays prescriptive results for the exterior connected lighting
power in tradable applications. The exterior CLP is the sum of all the input
power (wattages) the building luminaires in tradable applications are rated
for. This value should be lower than the interior power allowance for tradable
applications in order to comply with the standard.
|
Exterior Connected Lighting Power (Non-Tradable Applications) | Displays prescriptive results for the exterior connected lighting
power in non-tradable applications. The exterior CLP is the sum of all the
input power (wattages) the building luminaires in non-tradable applications are
rated for. This value should be lower than the interior power allowance for
non-tradable applications in order to comply with the standard.
|
Exterior Lighting Compliance Test | Displays prescriptive results for the Exterior Lighting
Compliance Test in three tables. These results are a summary of the exterior
lighting power allowances for the building. To comply, each of the conditions
in the standard must be met for the exterior lighting systems. The tradable
exterior lighting applications comply if the connected lighting power is no
greater than the total allowance. All or a portion (or none) of the five
percent additional allowance can be used to achieve compliance. Connected
lighting power for each of the non-tradable applications must be no greater
than their corresponding allowances. The additional allowance from the five
percent pool can be applied to achieve compliance. The total of additional
allowances used for both the tradable and non-tradable applications must be no
greater than the total Additional Unrestricted Exterior Lighting Power
Allowance.
