Structural Element Upgrade Utility

Used to upgrade Building Structural elements created in versions of OpenBuildings Designer previous to OpenBuildings Designer CONNECT Edition Update 7 to ProStructures elements.

OpenBuildings Designer CONNECT Edition Update 7 and onwards extends its structural capabilities by replacing Building Structural elements with ProStructures elements in its workflows. The utility is optional. You can continue using Building Structural elements, and upgrade at a later time with the Upgrade tool on the Structural ribbon.

Accessed from:
  • Upon opening a DGN file containing legacy Structural elements
  • Ribbon: Building Design > Structural > Legacy - Structural Elements > Upgrade Structural Elements
SettingDescription
Next > Advances the Structural Element Upgrade Utility to the next step.

SettingDescription
Upgrade This Model (New Structural Mode) Upgrades the active Model so you can run OpenBuildings Designer with ProStructures tools and features (New Structural Mode). For instance, you can choose to only upgrade the current model and the active Workset but not upgrade references or other models in the file.

Selecting this options removes the Backup and Upgrade options from the dialog, and replaces the Next > button with the Finish button allowing you to dismiss the Structural Element Upgrade Utility dialog and work in Legacy Mode. This option allows you continue in Legacy Mode for the models in the current file only while still upgrading the Workset.

Selecting this options removes the Backup and Upgrade options from the dialog, and replaces the Next > button with the Finish button allowing you to dismiss the Structural Element Upgrade Utility dialog and work in Legacy Mode. This option allows you continue in Legacy Mode for the models in the current file only while still upgrading the Workset, but you will no longer be prompted to run the upgrade in subsequent sessions of OpenBuildings Designer upon opening the current file.
