Supported RFA Categories
RFA files are divided into categories which determine their behavior in Revit®. Bentley supports categories that are limited to RFA’s or loadable families. Categories that do not apply, such as System Families (these can include wall types, floor types, roof types, and duct types) and In-Place families (these can include custom built-on-site casework) are not included because they cannot be saved as RFA files, and cannot be easily provided by a manufacturer.
Bentley supports manufacturer RFA content so the primary focus is on real-life catalog items. The secondary focus is on more generic items that are useful in the design process. Generic items can include doors, windows, and furniture. At this time Bentley is not supporting 2D drafting items such as title blocks and element tags. Families that exist only inside another system, such as handrail balusters, curtain wall panels, and many structural families are supported but are not integrated with related OpenBuildings Designer tools.
