To Create a New Sketch Grid and Begin Sketching

Add a new sketch grid system and enter the Sketch Grids temporary model.

Have the Grid Systems dialog open.
Sketch grid systems are not defined in a table like orthogonal and radial grid systems. You must draw the grid lines in the temporary Sketch Grids model.
  1. From the Grid Systems dialog, select Add > Sketch (3 Axis) A new grid system "SketchGrid1" is added in the Grid System Settings table (upper table). The Grid Lines Settings table (lower table) is empty.

When sketch grid systems are selected, the Add tool in Grid Lines Settings changes to Add/Modify.

  2. With the grid system "SketchGrid1" selected in the Grid System Settings table, select the Add/Modify tool from the Grid Lines Settings. The temporary Sketch Grids model "TempModel" opens oriented to Top, and the Add/Modify Grid Lines toolbar appears.
You are ready to start drawing grid lines with the tools provided in the Add/Modify Grid Lines toolbar as well as with drafting tools (Drafting task defaults to open in the Sketch Grids mode).

When a new sketch grid system is added and selected in the Grid Systems dialog, the Grid Lines Settings table is not pre-populated with grid lines like when adding orthogonal and radial grid systems. The grid lines must be added when in Sketch Grid mode.
