OpenBuildings™ Designer Help

To create a custom label drawing rule that will use stacked fractions

  1. Select File > Settings > Building > Structural Rules to open the Drawing Resymbolization Rules Manager .
  2. If you have a rule that is similar to the one you want to create (one assigned to a Single Line + Section Name, for example) for the stacked fraction capability, you can highlight it and click Copy. Or, you can click New and create the rule from scratch. In this example we will copy the Beams - Top rule and rename it.

  3. Open the Labels tab, then select Custom Labels. The dialog appearance changes so that you can enter the name of your new Custom Label. Click Add to add the name to the list.

  4. Click on your new custom label in the list. In this example we will select our new style StackedFractionLabel.
  5. In Text Parameters, select the text style you created. The Height, Width, and Font all default to how the style was set up in the Text Styles tool. Turn them on to change them to match the other font sizes (when you turn them off, they automatically go to a value of 0:0 3/32).
  6. In the bottom field, Label Format, enter the following exactly as shown: %SECTNAME:[STRcustomDrawingLabels]STRSectionNameWithStackedFractions%. It is extremely important that you enter this exactly as shown here. What you are doing with this sentence is saying that you want the Section Name to use the function STRSectionNameWithStackedFractions within the VBA STRcustomDrawingLabels for its format.
