In-Place Editing

In-place editing feature using the DataGroup System user interfaces.

Modify and apply properties of selected items of a schedule of an active model using (Modify Properties).

In-place Editing of Properties

The properties altered via the Modify dialog get applied to the selected elements in the active model. The geometry changes dynamically in accordance with the changes made to the properties, such as type, part or size etc. When refreshed, the altered properties are amended in the schedule and same properties will be used in the export.

Editing multiple items in-place

Using the right-click > Edit Values menu option, or simply double-clicking in the editable field you can change common properties within selections of multiple catalog items. Editable values can be overwritten and list values by selecting from pull-down option.

In-place Editing of Values in Schedules

The amended values are shown in green. The effect of the altered values is dynamically reflected in the geometry in the view. When multiple rows are selected, the Edit Values issued in a column alters the values for that column heading. The values edited recently are shown in different color.
This is also applicable in Catalog Editor. Selecting multiple Catalog entries in the Properties List box of Catalog Editor (<Ctrl>+Click or <Shift>+Click), and applying right-click > Edit in the desired column allows editing that property for all selected items.

In-place Editing in Catalog Editor; In multiple selection, the Edit toggles check marks in the "Hidden" column of all highlighted items.

In multiple selections, the edit applies to all selected items. When multiple rows of catalog items are selected, the right-click > Edit menu in the desired column, opens secondary dialog. You can collectively amend the properties of multiple items, such as "Part Definition" through "Part and Family Chooser" dialog. In the given example in the illustration, say for a field in "Section Name" column, the "Structural Sections" settings dialog opens . Changing desired values in this dialog will apply the changes to all items in the current selection.

In multiple selection, the Edit in the "Section Name" column applies change in all highlighted items.

The multiple selection edit also works on fields that can be set by picking the predefined value from the drop-down list. In this case, the right-click > Edit issued on the field (one among several rows in selection) opens the drop-down. Selecting desired option from the list will apply the change in all fields of highlighted rows. Similarly, the multiple selection edits in editable cells open the field as text editor, and you can edit the value by overwriting in the cell.
