Mechanical Component Properties

Mechanical discipline provides extensive DataGroup System catalogs. Catalog types contain catalog items. Each item has a number of DataGroup System properties which define the component geometry and data properties.

Properties are numeric, alphanumeric or logic in nature. The following chapters contain lists of all property entries. Parameters properties typically determine the geometric/dimensional characteristics of Mechanical components. They are grouped together in the middle portion of the Place Component dialog. Properties common to all components typically determine component data properties. They can be found in the bottom property groupings section of the Place Component dialog.

References in this documentation to orientation (such as top, bottom and left) assume placement of components in a standard top or plan view orientation. Additionally, when referring to a component's main branches, the syntax End<connection no.> is used.

Note: The use of the term End1/width for example, refers to the data name of the property associated with a component's overall width dimension at connection number 1. The property name is displayed as Width 1 (W1) in the DataGroup Properties list. Displayed names for DataGroup properties are stored in an XML file which resides in the active dataset's \DataGroupSystem folder. This file can be modified in a text editor to customize the properties' displayed names.

The DisplayNames_Properties_Shared.xml file.

The following sections list the properties compiled for components in respective disciplines, common properties and that of equipment specific properties.
