DataGroup System Validator

Used to ensure catalog data file configuration correctness. The tool reviews the system application, DGN master files, model files, and model reference data, compares all reviewed data with the DataGroup catalog file data (find data matches), and reports all findings.

Accessed from:

About the Validator interface

  • Displays findings in an HTML Browser Window which reports all checks completed, satisfactory check results, unsatisfactory check results, and errors found. Details and Help links also display messages on how and what to correct to solve data discrepancies.
  • The validation report panel (right side of the dialog) displays DataGroup System Validation Report findings. The report information includes the date and time of the report, status and description of the items reviewed, and help and detail messages.
  • Status indicators report validation severity level for the reviewed items. Success, fatal, critical, warning, and information symbols immediately alert you as to when and where a problem exists.
  • Details and Help links can be selected to display additional validation report information for items in the report list. Details are generally offered surrounding the validation condition and possible steps that can be taken to resolve the condition.
  • Information is displayed in a series of cascading error conditions. Problems in one area may produce subsequent error conditions in another area which may be indirectly related to the original error. Follow-on error conditions are often eliminated when the original problem is corrected. It is recommended that you work through these informational lists from the top down.
Note: This dialog may be configured to open automatically when a DGN file is opened. It may also open automatically to report problems when placement and modify tools are selected, or when the DataGroup data tools are selected.
