Web Moment Connection

Used to create Moment Plates and Shear or Stiffener Plates to connect existing shapes.

Common Tool Settings

Setting Description
Column Gap Sets the distance between the two selected shapes. A negative value is not permitted.
Beam Between Moments When checked, sets the beam between the moment plates. when unchecked, aligns the moments plates with the flanges.
Gap Type Sets one of the gap types from web/flange normal to beam or column.
  • From Web - Normal to Beam ? When checked, sets the column Gap to be measured from the web of the supporting member to the connecting member's end point. The measurement is inline with the connecting member.
  • From Flange - Normal to Beam ? When checked, sets the column Gap to be measured from the flange of the supporting member to the connecting member's end point. The measurement is inline with the connecting member.
  • From Web - Normal to Column ? When checked, sets the column Gap to be measured from the web of the supporting member to the connecting member's end point. The measurement is inline with the supporting member.
  • From Flange - Normal to Column ? When checked, sets the column Gap to be measured from the flange of the supporting member to the connecting member's end point. The measurement is inline with the supporting member.

Dialog Controls

Setting Description
OK Closes the dialog and save your changes.
Cancel Closes the dialog without saving changes.
Help Opens online help.
Template Saves and retrieve settings to be used on other projects.
Clone Shifts focus to the geometry, allowing cloning the current structural object (stair, frame, truss, etc.) properties to match one or more objects selected in the view.
Show /Hide Preview Opens or closes, respectively, a flyout panel to display an illustration based on the tool.
