General Baseplate - Radial tab

Used to define Defines Radial Gussets (typically used for round plates), and Web Stiffeners on the selected shape.

Setting Description
Radial Gussets
  • Radial Gussets ? When checked, creates plates normal to the base plate in a radial pattern centered around the reference point of the selected shape.
  • Number ? Sets the number of plates that appear in the radial pattern of gusset plates. The default is 4.
  • Length ? Sets the plate dimension in a direction radial to the center point of the base plate. A positive value determines the length. A negative value is not permitted. A value of 0 sets the length to the width of the base plate. The default is 0.
  • Thickness ? Sets the gusset plate thickness. A positive value determines the thickness. A negative value of value of 0 is not permitted. The default is 8 or 0.25 depending on the units setting.
  • Chamfer Horiz. / Vert. ? Sets the horizontal / vertical dimension for the chamfer on the plate. A positive value determines the chamfer size. A negative value is not permitted. A value of 0 for either Chamfer Horz. or Chamfer Vert. indicates no chamfer is to be created. The default is 20 or 0.75 depending on the units setting.
  • Height ? Sets the plate dimension in a direction parallel to the normal of the base plate. A positive value determines the height. A negative value or a value of 0 is not permitted. The default is 100 or 4 depending on the units setting.
  • Start Angle ? Sets the size of the angle between the first gusset and a reference angle which is parallel to the direction of the length of the base plate. A positive value specifies counterclockwise rotation. A negative value specifies clockwise rotation. The default value is 45?.
Web Stiffeners
  • Web Stiffeners ? When checked, creates web stiffeners on the selected shape where possible parallel to the base plate.
  • Stiifener Type ? Sets one of the stiffener types selected from the three available types: Chamfered, Filleted and Rounded.
  • Thickness ? Sets the web stiffener thickness. A positive value determines the thickness. A negative value of value of 0 is not permitted. The default is 8 or 0.25 depending on the units setting.
  • Height ? Sets the offset dimension in a the normal direction of the base plate. A positive value determines the height. The default is 100 or 4 depending on the units setting.
  • Flange Distance ? Sets the offset of the stiffener from flanges of the shape. A positive value determines the offset. A negative value is not allowed. The default is 0.
  • End Distance ? Sets the offset of the stiffener from out edge of the shape. A positive value determines the offset. A negative value is not allowed. The default is 0.
  • Stiffener Radius ? Sets the round radius of corners of the stiffener. A positive value determines the radius. A negative value is to be read as its absolute value. The default is 5 or 0.2 depending on the units setting.
