To Create Shear Connections

Task for creating Box Beam and Beam Shear connections.

The connection beams must be perpendicular to the support beam and all the beams must be the same type of shape. Also the connection beams must be of same size and aligned in center line as well if there are two connection beams selected.
  1. Select the Shear tool ( Box Beam Shear or Beam Shear).
    Select the connecting members, as prompted:
    • Select first connection shape: Use an object selection method to pick a beam.
    • Select middle support shape: Use an object selection method to pick a beam which is perpendicular to the first one.
    • Select second connection shape or Return for none: Use an object selection method to pick a beam , which is same size and center line aligned with the first connection shape, or select nothing.
  2. The Box Beam Shear Connection dialog opens.
    The initial default settings connection is visible in the model.
  3. Select or type the required values on the dialog tabs to specify the dimensions and cleat details.
  4. Click .

    The selected shear connection is updated in the model.
