Moment Connection - Extras tab

Used to set plates and rat holes for the connection.


Setting Description
Web Plate When checked, enables web plate settings.
  • Thickness ? Sets the thickness of the Web Plates.
  • Length ? Sets the length of the Web Plates.
  • Flange Offset ? Sets the offset from the inside flange of the supporting shape.
  • Left/ Right / Both ? Determines the placement of the Web Plates relative to the X axis of the connecting member.
Stiffener When checked, enables stiffener settings.
  • Thickness ? Sets the thickness of the Stiffener Plates.
  • Web Offset ? Sets the offset from the web of the supporting shape.
  • Flange Offset ? Sets the offset from the inside flange of the supporting shape.
  • End Offset ? Sets the offset from the outer edge of the supporting shape.
  • Left/ Right / Both ? Determines the placement of the Stiffener Plate relative to the X axis of the connecting member.
Inner Corners
  • Chmfer / Fillet/ Round ? Determines the type of cut for the inner corners of the Stiffener Plates.
  • Distance ? Sets the distance relating to the cut. If 0, default values are retrieved from the OpenBridge Modeler database .
Rat Hole When checked, the flange of the connecting shape is bevelled along the common edge with the supporting shape.
  • Web Gap ? Sets the gap from the web of the connecting shape to the supporting shape.
  • Upper/ Lower Flange Gap ? Sets the gap from the flanges of the connecting shape to the supporting shape.
  • Upper/ Lower Depth ? Sets the depth of the bevel.
  • Upper/ Lower Angle ? Sets the angle of the bevel.
  • Invert (Upper/ Lower) ? When checked, the bevel is inserted on the opposite side of the flange.
  • Chamfer/ Fillet/ Cope (Inserted Arc) ? When checked, respective option determines the type of cut for the access hole the bevel is inserted on the opposite side of the flange. When the Cope option is selected, enables the Web Insert, Arc Depth, and Flange Inset options.
  • Upper/ Lower Web Inset ? Sets the value that allows the access hole to be shifted to the right or left relative to the Web Gap.
  • Upper/ Lower Arc Depth ? Sets the value that allows the access hole to be shifted to up or down relative to the flange.
  • Upper/ Lower Flange Inset ? Sets the value that determines the starting point of the chamfer between the flange and access hole.
Weld Plates When checked, places the weld plates below the flanges. Enables setting weld plate dimensions.
  • Thickness ? Sets the thickness of the Weld Plates.
  • Length ? Sets the length of the Weld Plates.
  • Width ? Sets the width of the Weld Plates.
