To create a stiffener template

To create transverse stiffener template for use with modeling steel girder bridges, use the following procedure.

  1. Either:
    • on the Utilities ribbon tab, select the Stiffeners tool in the Libraries group

    • Key in: bmlib manage stiffener
    The Stiffener Templates dialog opens.
  2. Click Add.
    A new template name is added to the end of the list.
  3. Optional: To set the I section in the display window to appropriate dimensions, do the following:
    1. Click Display Options.
      The Display Options dialog opens.
    2. Type section dimensions to use in the graphical display.
    3. Click Save.
  4. Type the required template parameters:
    • Template Name
    • Width
    • Thickness
  5. Specify additional analytical data:
    • Stiffener Type
    • Material
  6. Specify corner clip dimensions on each corner as necessary.
  7. Optional: Repeat steps 2 through 6 to add additional stiffener templates.
  8. Click Save.
