To create a new pier template
To create a new pier template for either a multi-column pier, wall, or pile bent, use the following procedure.
- Either: The Pier Templates dialog opens.
- Click Add New. The Edit Pier dialog opens with some basic pier details for the selected pier type already modeled.
- Type a Pier Name.

On the
Cap tab:
- Select the Cap Type. Cap Type can be rectangular, tapered, inverted tee or variable. Variable caps allow different section depths along the length of the cap and can be used to model advanced variations including linear, parabolic, and circular variations.
- Type or select the dimension parameters.
- Select the Working Point location.
- (Optional) Specify a cheek wall:

(Multi Column Piers only) On the
Column tab:
- Select the Column Type.
- Type the dimensions.
- If Auto Spacing is set to Off, then specify the overhang distance.
- Click the Add tool () to add another column with the same Column Type and Dimensions.
- If Auto Spacing is set to Off, then specify the overhand distance .
- Repeat to add additional columns as necessary.
- (Optional) (Multi Column Piers only) On the Strut tab:
- (Multi Column and Wall Piers only) On the Footing tab:

(Multi Column and Pile Cap Piers only) On the
Pile tab:
- Select the Pile Type from the drop-down list for the default footing.
- Type the pile dimensions for the default footing.
- Click the Pile Layout Design tool () to open the Pile Layout dialog.
- Type the margin distances, angles, and numbers of piles in either direction.
- Click Generate.
- Click the Add tool () to add a column-specific pile arrangement.
- Click OK.
- Click OK.
