Cross Frame Location Wizard dialog

Used to parametrically place cross frames between the selected beam pairs.

Opens when the Wizard button is clicked on the Cross-Frame Placement dialog.

Bulk Locations tab

SettingDescription
Number of Locations Select the number of stiffeners to be placed by the wizard along the beam bay.
Spacing Set this option to type the nominal spacing between adjacent stiffeners along the beam bay.
Start Station Offset (Optional) Type a start station offset distance from the beam group start station to the first stiffener to be placed by the wizard.
End Station Offset (Optional) Type a end station offset distance from the beam group end station to the last stiffener to be placed by the wizard.
Position Lock Used to determine the transverse positioning of the cross frame along adjacent beams.
  • None – left and right locations are specified individually.
  • Normal to Left Beam – the cross frame is placed normal to the left beam. The location on the right beam is calculated by the program.
  • Normal to Right Beam – the cross frame is placed normal to the right beam. The location on the left beam is calculated by the program.
  • Link Left-Right – the same value is used for both beams, regardless of curvature or skew.
Orientation Select either the Downstation or Upstation side of the placement location.
Tip: The exact placement of cross frame members needs to be coordinate with the orientation of cross frame members in the selected template.
Align Select either Vertical (typical for cross frames at supports) or Normal to Top Flange (intermediate locations) to place cross frames accordingly. Location distance is measured along the top flange when Normal to Top Flange is selected.
Left Stiffener Select the stiffener template.
Cross-Frame Select the cross frame template to use.
Right Stiffener Select the stiffener template.

Distance Type a distance to locate this cross-frame.
From Select the reference point for the Distance:
  • Previous Cross-Frame – Use the previous cross-frame as the reference point.
  • Beam Start – Use the beam start location as the reference.
  • Beam End – Use the beam end location as the reference.
  • Specified Cross-Frame – Type the number of the reference Cross-Frame in the cross-frame group.
Cross-Frame Select the cross frame template to use.
